Melee tech has been amazing since the rework and ranged mercs have been top tier for as long as I can remember. Hell even if they were both shit, they still actually have perks to go with them. Melee smuggler just has that mediocre stun and then shares everything with ranged smug

Why on earth would one make a melee smuggler?

It's a stun move that competes with an extra attack on the first turn. Plus Mag Binders exists, which is an even better stun.

It's probably the second least useful level-up perk short of the giant slayer perk perks can grab.

Why do you even care about money? One-off cash rewards are only important for like the first planet or two until you can get gear that isn't complete shit. After that you can progress to whatever the fuck is the end of content and rather easily get good enough gear to mug Dr. Lash and/or invest...
