Game "Fetish Master" (beta)
Before all: sorry, if my English not very good - it's not my native language, and not language that I learn in school.

I'm presenting to you all my hobby project for last year. Work name for project is "Fetish Master".
I need to say big thanks to Fenoxo, Xadera, Tacoking, Cmacleod, and Daisy_Strike for inspiration to begin work on this.

Maybe, someone from you seen it in the Futanari Palace forums, but I decide, here can be more people with interest in such project.

This game is mixed genre. It partially text RPG-quest like Corruption of Champions, Nimin or a Pornarium, and partially strategy/economic management, like Slave Maker or Whore Master.

Game plot: You are now master of the house, that you can't leave for some reasons (actual story in the game intro). But you can control specially hired stuff by the device called "proxy", so you can experience many things outside through them. You also needed large amount of money, so decide to try using workers in the "adult entertainment industry". This is can be some challenge, as they not slaves, and can leave work if they feel bad about it. And source of bad mood can be shame, tiredness, loss of fights...

Basically you need to train you contractors mentally, to "relax" them about sex things, and some works or possibilities needed certain physical conditions. Game engine can support physical changes in characters, legacy traits in their genetic, transformations. Also, it's have mechanic to track changes in passing time. So such thing as growth, timed effects, etc, easily handed by engine.

Though it's not only game. Although I plan to expand game world myself, but engine is written in a way to ensure maximum possibilities for modifications and have various instruments for it. Game in the stage of stable alpha. Engine working good, but for now it's lack content. There is about 10-15 locations, 3-4 jobs for contractors, 2 quest lines, 2 enemy to fight (fights is in primitive state, but this can be easily expanded). As I'm not native English speaker, so maybe, speed of writing and quality of my texts not very good, so I welcome anyone who like to write something for a game. Smile


For modders and writers:
- Game engine work with XML-stored resources. It can be edited in simple notepad, but engine also has special "developer mode" with many editors for each components: items, characters, events, tasks, templates, and more.

Now, how to get and start the game on Windows:

1. You need Java SE 6 or later (JRE). If you not already have this, it can be downloaded from there: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/j...index.html
Game will not start without it!

2. Download game archive.

3. Extract it somewhere on you disk. Do not extract in the previous version folder. Remove it before.

4. Start game with file "startup.exe", or with "start.bat"
           


How to start game on Linux (Tested on Ubuntu Linux 12.10):

1. Install Java SE 6 or later. OpenJDK Java, default for modern Ubuntu versions will work too.

2. Download game archive.

3. Extract it somewhere on you disk. Do not extract in the previous version folder. Remove it before.

4. Start game with file with "start.sh" (You may need to set executable rights to this file.)

       

If you wish to try modding capabilities of engine, you can launch game in developer mode starting "start_dev.bat". In this mode you can access various editors and in console will be printed various information about game process.

If anything, an editor might be a very nice thing to have for this project to help you out with your English.

I concur with TDM; getting an editor or two that are fluent in written English would be an efficient move on your part "H".

Hey if you try to do management at midnight the whole game becomes unresponsive, and this happened numerous times before. At random it seems the whole game will just lock out.

Two lions are in a bathtub in africa. One lion turns to the other and says pass the soap. The other lion says no soap radio.

Very strange... I can't reproduce this on the three different computers.

Two questions:
1. Do game hang completely and you need to close it, or you can resume after some time?
2. What size of you computer memory, CPU and operating system (Windows or Linux)?

If game is only "pausing" at random, this can be a sign of too little memory avaliable. (In this case Java automaticaly try to clean and reuse existing memory and can cause slowdown)

If you experience regular "pausing" only around 6:00-7:00 morning in the game clock, it's also can be sign of too weak CPU. At this time game currently generate new contractors for agency, and this is most CPU dependent operation.

I played it again and this time closed everything i had open. The game froze, and become unresponsive again, this time on day 4. I checked task manager and it said i have 400 MB of RAM unused, so i think its the game engine, or something else causing this.

I think I may have it. Or maybe something unrelated with a similar presentation maybe. I can't be sure. It may not so much be a bug with the engine as a hickup in the game. I noticed when I gave the game a play trough that there were some points where if you disconnected the proxy, it would take an hour or two for your helper to get home. I had this happen when I had only 1 on contract. When she was not at home to give orders to her, I could not advance the time so the game 'froze up' when it just did not have anything it could do.

I check on this, but if you use button "Disconnect Link", it's intended that contractor return home with some delay. You just need to wait some time - using "Next Hour" or "Next Day" buttons. Contractor become slightly disoriented at sudden link breaking, and take some time to return. If you not wish to wait, you need to return home and use "Return to management" option.

Ah. I guess I was a bit unclear. I understand that is supposed to be how it works. It just happened that sometimes when it did, it would not let me wait at all. It would just seem to hang but I could still open the inventory or look at new contracts (that I could not afford at the time). This did not happen every time I disconnected suddenly but it did happen a two or three times. spread over an hour or two.
